Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen issued a pointed warning to President Donald Trump about his threats to annex Greenland, following the U.S. abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, over the weekend.

The comment comes following frequent statements made by Trump about wanting to take over the island owned by Denmark in the North Atlantic.

Mette Frederiksen said she would “strongly urge that the United States stop the threats against a historically close ally.”
