Several people were injured in a car versus train crash in Smith County Tuesday evening. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. at a railroad crossing, according to the Smith County Emergency Management Agency.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a crash between a train and a truck in Poteau, Okla., on Saturday, Jan. 10. The train hit the 1998 Chevrolet pickup near the intersection of Coggins Road and North Broadway Street at about noon.

Owatonna police, firefighters, and Mayo Clinic ambulance workers responded to the train tracks near Circle K at 330 W North Street.

The crash occurred around noon on Jan. 10 near the crossing at 290th Avenue and U.S. Highway 59, also known as North Broadway, according to a news release from the Poteau Police Department (PPD). Police, firefighters, emergency medical crews and state and county law enforcement responded.

Two trains reportedly collided head-on in Peru near Machu Picchu, injuring several including U.S. citizens and suspending rail service to the site.
